Ellery Jane Timmerman

Two weeks ago I was able to head back to Fort Worth and meet my best friend's little girl for the first time! Meeting Ellery was one of the best days and being able to see Beth and Shelby love on their daughter was so amazing. We have waited for this blessing and she is finally here. I had a wonderful time loving on her and and her parents while I was at home for the weekend.

Me with Miss Ellery, she and her mother came to my parents house for dinner with my family and she slept the entire time. We were shocked because there were six women there passing her back and forth getting in our "Ellery time".

It is amazing to me to have known Beth for more than 20 years and now be able to share in the birth of our own children (mine to come later :) ). I love the fact that almost all of our friends have their own children, pregnant right now or are planning on them right now. What a wonderful time in our lives!

I found this etsy shop today and I think I might have to get two of her pillows, one of North Carolina and one of Texas. Now I just have to figure out what color to get. What color would you get? Thanks to the Nester for the help finding the shop.

The Marriage Prayer Challenge

What might God do if you said a simple prayer every day for your spouse?

Have you ever thought about this question? It seems so simple but I know I have thought about it and then quickly became distracted by other things in my life.

Tonight Geoff and I will be participating in a wonderful event through our church, St. James UMC. We will be attending "A Evening for Couples" which hopes to answer the question posed above. Our church is bringing in David Delk one of the authors of the book, The Marriage Prayer Challenge. David will speak on the importance of prayer in marriage and the steps to building a thriving marriage. During the event each couple will receive a copy of David’s book, and have an opportunity to sign up for a 6-week follow-up group to discuss the book. I can't wait to share in such an important message tonight. I'm also looking forward to reading the book and taking part in the 21-day marriage prayer adventure with Geoff.

I believe in working to better your marriage everyday and what a great way to do that with the help from prayer. Prayer changes things because God answers prayers.

Lately I have been in the mood to decorate, sew, cook, etc. I don't know what happened but it seems tht I have been blessed by the creative fairy and hopefully I will be able to use these new ideas to make wonderful things for myself and others.

I just found this idea of making a burlap wreath from a blog I follow, The Nester, and she got this idea from here. I can't wait to hit Hancock fabrics for some burlap later today. I really enjoy the look of burlap, very rustic and can be elegant at the same time. I even wanted to use burlap for the tablecloths at my wedding but was vetoed right away by my mother. Oh well I have found a new way of using this great material.

The instructions seem pretty easy and you don't need to many ingredients ( I know that's a cook term but I can't seem to use another word, strips of burlap and a wire hanger and a ribbon to finish it off. I hope you take a chance and make one of these for your home or if I get really good at them I can make you one. :) Click on the links above to get the full instructions.

I'm coming back!!

I know I have been gone a long time from the blogging world but I am making a comeback soon. I actually have started two posts just haven't been able to finish them quite yet. I thought I would send out some good thoughts to Fort Worth for the HUGE game this weekend for TCU!!!

Oh how I wish Geoff and I could be there this weekend to celebrate and cheer on our favorite team. We will be cheering from home, you may even hear us if you listen really well. :)

Our Great Country!!!

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I am proud to be an American and truly believe this is a great country. I am proud to know some soldiers fighting in the war right now and want to wish them much love and safety. Thank you for standing up and protecting this great country of ours when it is needed.

Geoff's brother, Brent, and his wife, Katy, are both in the Army and Brent is currently in Afghanistan serving a year's tour of duty. He was just home for some R & R, then left last week to go back. We think he should be done in October of this year. Please keep Brent and Katy in your thoughts and prayers along with all of the other soldiers around the world this holiday weekend.

Geoff and I are headed to Beaufort, NC this weekend for some sun, sand, and good company. I have found I really enjoy living so close to the coast. It has been nice to drive only 1.5 hours to the beach when it used to take 8 hours in Texas. We are excited to spend the weekend on the boat and hanging out at Cape Lookout and the Shackleford Banks along with celebrating the July 4th holiday!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend. Hopefully you will get to see a fireworks show, I know I'm looking forward to seeing some. Enjoy good food, good friends, and great celebrations.
